Everyone check out Eunice Luk! She's a great illustrator, printmaker, friend and just the sweetest girl!

TRAVEL

When I have no money or access to my friend's time machine, I go to Acadia Books to buy vintage postcards and photographs to get away. Acadia is located on Queen St. between Sherbourne and Ontario :S, selling art books, old art magazines, deluxe editions and vintage prints. Here are my finds from my latest trip to Paradise!

MOMMY

Mom and Frisket, what babes! (Tulips in the far back)
Mom's Tulip painting.
Mom's screen printed textiles of Tulips that I drew when I was 8.
The Tulips go way back. They have been in our garden as long as I can remember and are still inspiring for us today. Thanks Mom, Love You!

OH YEAH

And this guy:

THE OTHER COOL DAVID

The only other cool David I'm missing is David Byrne. Amazing musician, writer, compulsive journaler, list maker and cyclist and a huge PowerPoint presentation lover. Check out his great TED Talk about the relationship between music and architecture, creativity and context.

Sketch for the "Big Suit", inspired by theatrical costuming in Japan.

Oh yeah and possibly this guy:

Sort of cool too.

HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA

So they say, when a song gets stuck in your head, it is reflective of your daily events and emotional state. On and off for nearly a year now (so concerning), I've had Hockey Night in Canada stuck in my head. It's annoying, and weird, but it must just mean that: 1. I'm very, very Canadian, 2. that I'm ready to wear outrageous outfitting and 3. contemplating getting a dog that looks like a miniature hockey player and yell-talking. I'm sure David Milne, one of my favourite Canadian landscape painters, printers, writers, has it stuck in there too.
Check out those pants!
Click here for a cute write up on Canadians.
Almost all images lifted from the AGO website.
Ahhh, I miss the cottage, and the even younger part of my young life.

LIFTED FROM ASHLEY'S SITE

Burke

Check out her write up on the pendent by clicking here, so nice! All I want are images and writing that dovetail together!

JAGUAR INSTRUMENT

The first stinged instrument sounds like a jaguar! Probably used, along with elaborate costuming, for ceremonial dances and warfare. Click here, then click the "LISTEN" button, then the picture attached to Guatemala to listen the jaguar instrument. It is uncanny!

HUGE JAGUAR POST

The Mews

Just hanging out

What a cutie!

The jaguar was a sacred symbol to the warriors and shamans of the ancient Incas and Aztecs. Today, it is still celebrated in South America for it's violent hunting skills and versatility, at home in all environments including caves, trees and cenotes. Shamans used to follow them around for weeks while taking iowaska, collecting their ability and strength, in preparation for their own journeys into dream and underworlds or in preparation for their villages warfare with the neighbors... or the Spanish.
